this is very delayed, but i'm actually going to FORCE myself to blog. because this is important and i don't ever want to forget it. maybe you'll take away from this too.

Good Friday Youth Rally was not what i expected. if you took part of last year's rally, i think you'd recall the following things: jumping castle (enough said). white food. decent speaker. great worship. etc, etc...

well, as you may or may not know, this year's youth rally took place at our very own SCAC. we used both churches but mainly the chinese building.

anyway, i'm pretty sure that the majority of us don't have very nice things to say about our experience this year, myself included. the speaker was all over the place and none of us understood his message, the other churches were pretty insensitive to us (we're chinese, guys, get over it.), and they either didn't know how or didn't have the courtesy to clean up after themselves.

many of us ended up cleaning both the english and chinese buildings - the overflowing garbage cans, food dropped carelessly on the ground, bottles and cans everywhere, amongst other messes. needless to say, we weren't the cheeriest bunch. how could these people treat church property, God's house, like that? we spent rec time and worship cleaning up after everyone. by the time we finally went back into the sanctuary, they were wrapping up worship.

yeah. we were POOPED by the end of the night. i didn't stay to help clean up, but i bet the people who did were really tired by the end of it (thanks guys!!). i'm sure you can guess that we were all a little bit grumpy by how it turned out. haha. i will fully admit that i complained although i tried to do as little of it as possible. it was really hard not to.

today at committee meeting, we were discussing the past programs in these couple of months. when we got to GFYR, not much was said - we all knew what went wrong and how we felt. however, vicky enlightened us with a very good point. she told us that even though she didn't learn much from the night, she took something else out of it. she said that she learned to be a humble servant for God, cleaning up after everyone.

whoa. that kind of made me go : | . it hit me like a brick wall. i was looking so negatively on this situation that i failed to realize this really simple point. humble servant. hmm.

so today, this is my challenge for you (haven't done this in AGES!); as it says in Deuteronomy 10:12: "...fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul".
