it's been crazy busy lately. i think even more so than the previous weeks when i was madly cramming for History 5. where did time go? already, my mark should be posted in a mere 3 days. since then, things have been flying by. it's like i don't even have the time to pause and take a breath. or sleep, for that matter. i got three and a half hours of sleep on Thursday night because of that final culminating data project. ugh.
last night at Bible study, we had an inductive study on Mark 12:1-12; the Parable of the Tenants. i, myself, got a lot out of it, and i really enjoyed the discussion. albeit having a small group of just four (two of us attended the prestudy), it was good to sit and study God's word.
during discussion, we asked, "what do you learn about God from this passage?" and i shared my first impression of the passage. i felt that God was pretty cruel and... unforgiving(?) in the sense that the landlord just kept sending servant after servant, all the while knowing that they would be beaten and coming back empty handed, or killed. then, he even sent his only son. why would the landlord do that? why would he continue to send people to the tenants? why didn't he go himself to stop them?
but Gabe gave me a new perspective. maybe he sent servant after servant and even his own son to these barbaric tenants because he thought that they would change, that they would respect his son when he came to them. he forgave them each and every time they killed or beat a servant, without any hesitations or questions asked. he gave them unconditional love.
this struck me and i was left pretty much speechless.
